Elaine D., Jun 12, 2009, 10:48PM EDTYour Pittsburgh Penquins won the Stanley Cup Playoff Game 7!!!! They did good & they deserve it. My husband says a lot of the guys on the team are young and have never won a cup. Last time was '91 or '92??? Scotty Bowman was the coach back then and later came to the Detroit Redwings.
We are Detroit Redwing fans here. Detroit, unfortunately did not play good enough to win. Kinda sucks to lose a game on "home ice".
The best team won. "Yay Penguins"

Lori F., May 23, 2009, 11:40AM EDTTim,
Sorry yes I did miss your sarcasm.
My bad.
Am I forgiven? -
Elaine D., May 22, 2009, 5:07PM EDTWoops, I really messed up down there in my ping for you. There is, of course no such thing as a "galance" sheet. That should be a "balance" sheet. Sorry about that, I try to be careful about spelling but sometimes I "fat finger" and then hit submit too quickly. Later.

Elaine D., May 22, 2009, 4:23PM EDTBack at ya, Mr. tim. How's things? I just made some oatmeal cookies. They are hot out of the oven. Wish I could share some with ya.
I recently snagged a copy of "Forbes" magazine (March 30, 2009 issue) from my doctors office. I asked to take it home because I started reading an article in it that focused on the "velocity of money". I really wanted to read the article a few more times at home. In your comment to my "What's Really Going On?" post that was the first time I'd seen that term. "Spend That Cash" was the title of the article in the Forbes magazine. Also, the writer made reference to something else you mentioned. I picked up on this statement "How curious that the Fed's galance sheet is in fact contracting, "We're in a deflationary crash," says David Malpass, the former chief economist at Bear Searns, who now runs Encima Global, a New York City economic researcj firm. "Since the credit markets are shrinking, the Fed should be expanding fast." (meaning, plugging money into the economy) The "deflationary crash" is a pesky condition as the money is there but it's sitting as the banks are not lending, consumers are not spending, financials and venture capital investors are reluctant to part with their money. This lack of money velocity (movement of money as you said) is hampering the countries economic recovery. This economist is suggesting the "Fed buy $1 trillion or more of mortgage backed securities, pushing so much cash onto the balance sheets of banks they'd be forced to redeploy it in riskier places---like loans."
By the way, do you have an economic background? I bet you read a lot. You are so informed & informative in your comments & posts.
Well, that's it for now. Take good care.

Elaine D., May 14, 2009, 7:04PM EDTHey Mr. Tim, I appreciate your commenting on my "What's Really Going On?" post (May 1st). The info/perspective you provided gave me a better understanding of the principle of inflation. You also helped make me aware of "money velocity" and a great explanation of how that occurs. Thanks again for commenting.
I want to thank you very much for your friend invite. I didn't get back to you promptly as I've had foot surgery and it's taken awhile until I can sit at the PC and type without too much discomfort. Have to elevate & ice. The first week & 1/2 was rough. Now I get 30 minutes out of every hour to walk around. So I'm back and I'll be watching for your posts & comments. I enjoy and learn from your material. Double bonus/good stuff. -
Roy Shastid, Apr 11, 2009, 5:16PM EDTHey Tim I suspect that your friends list is very good company. Watched Marley and me last night. Bit of a tear jerker if you have ever lost a dog/friend.

Elaine D., Mar 12, 2009, 5:25AM EDTHi Tim, I had to laugh too ( your lol). That was healthy for both of us. You say budgeted. I said spent. Bottom line is the taxpayers are on the hook for fiscal excesses in the recent spending bills. Thanks for responding to my comment in the thread.
